Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Friday, July 31: At 1:28 pm a complainant reported a self-propelled Toro lawn mower had been stolen from a residence in the 700 block of S. Chestnut St. At 8:22 pm a complainant reported an assault between two juveniles at X-treme Youth Center.
Thursday, July 30: At 9:47 am a complainant reported a burglary to his vehicle at a residence in the 700 block of W. Madison St. At 10:22 am a complainant reported a burglary to a garage in the 700 block of W. Adams St. At 9:30 pm a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from Hy-Vee.
Wednesday, July 29: At 1:35 pm officers was called to a residence in the 600 block of W. Adams St for what was determined to be a property dispute. While the officers attempted to sort through the issues at hand, additional people arrived at the residence. Upon being told to leave the premises, one of the males stepped onto a neighboring property and began to yell obscenities at the complainant. James Eberle, 30, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct*. At 3:34 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at Stanford and Elm Streets. Dylan Lansman was southbound in the outside lane on Elm driving a 1993 Oldsmobile. Dan Sayre had been eastbound on Stanford St driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck owned by Greene County. As Sayre approached the stop sign at Elm, Lansman began to turn westbound onto Stanford Street and became distracted by a passing vehicle. Sayre saw Lansman coming and stopped short of the intersection. Lansman crossed into Sayre’s lane of travel and the two vehicles collided head on. Lansman was cited for failure to yield half of roadway when meeting a vehicle. Damage to Lansman’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500 in damage and the officer estimated $850 in damage to the pickup Sayre was driving.
Tuesday, July 28: At 10:16 pm a complainant reported two teenage females had harassed another teen female in the 100 block of N. Olive St. At 10:39 pm an officer warned two teenage females regarding curfew at S. Pinet and W. Harrison St. At 10:48 pm an officer warned three juvenile males regarding curfew at S. Wilson and Harrison St.
Monday, July 27: At 11:04 pm an officer was requested at the Wild Rose Casino for a male which was refusing to leave as requested.
Sunday, July 26: At 2:36 pm an officer was asked to assist the sheriff’s office with a hit and run accident that occurred at Highway 30 and M Ave west of Jefferson. A vehicle was reported to have left the scene and had pulled into a garage in the 900 block of N. Pinet Street. The male that had been driving the vehicle had jumped out a bedroom window and fled from the residence when the officer went to the front door. At 5:17 pm Nicholas Balderas, 23, was arrested at a nearby residence and charged with interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor)*. Several charges are pending by the Greene County sheriff’s office. At 7:05 pm an officer was on routine patrol at Westwood and Grimmell Road. The officer observed a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup northbound on Grimmell Road. The officer knew the driver, Anthony Charles Kennedy, 33 to have a warrant for his arrest for probation revocation” out of Greene County and a warrant out of Hamilton County for accessory to a felony. The officer attempted catch up to the vehicle. Kennedy turned into a driveway in the 900 block of W. Madison St and fled the vehicle. The officer gave chase and Kennedy eventually ran back to his vehicle and took off northbound on Brackett St. Kennedy turned westbound on Monroe St and then southbound on Grimmell Road to Westwood Drive where he went west. Kennedy turned northbound on Linwood Ave where an Iowa state trooper joined the pursuit. The officers pursued Kennedy to 230th St where he went westbound and then northbound on Kirkwood Ave.
The trooper attempted a P.I.T. maneuver and Kennedy’s vehicle spun out. Kennedy took off the opposite direction and officers pursued him to Granite Ave where the Greene County sheriff and a sheriff’s deputy deployed stop sticks. The spike strips were ineffective and the pursuit continued to Highway 30 where it went westbound to Eaton Ave. Kennedy turned southbound and deputy Dave Kersey attempted a P.I.T. maneuver causing Kennedy’s vehicle to spin and go into the east ditch. Kennedy was taken into custody. The officer charged Anthony Kennedy with eluding (class D felony), OWI-first offense (serious misdemeanor), interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor), reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, and two counts of speeding (driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving 90 mph in a 55 mph zone)*. He remains held.
Saturday, July 25: At 8:57 am a complainant reported the theft of money from a purse at a residence in the 400 block of E. Monroe St. At 11 pm an officer was requested by a sheriff’s deputy to assist in an OWI investigation of a male at Greene County Medical Center after a motor vehicle collision in the county. A5 10:34 pm a resident reported harassment by a neighbor in the 500 block of W. Harrison St.

Wednesday, July 22: At 2:12 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief where a window had been broken out of a door at an apartment in the 1000 block of W. Washington St. At 9:04 pm a mother reported four teenagers had become stuck on a sandbar on the Raccoon River west of the Grimmell Road Bridge and were lost. The officer located the teenagers and the Jefferson fire department was requested to assist in rescuing them with a boat. The four were brought to safety at approximately 11:27 pm.
Tuesday, July 21: At 6:30 am a complainant reported criminal mischief at a residence in the 400 block of N. Oak St. A passenger window had been broken out of a pickup. At 7:14 am a Thomas Jefferson Gardens board member reported criminal mischief there. Landscape lighting had been damaged. At 9:16 am a complainant reported harassment that had occurred in the 1800 block of N. Elm St. At 1:10 pm a complainant in the 1000 block of W. Adams St reported she had received a check from another individual on a closed account. At 1:50 pm a complainant reported harassment at a residence in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive. At 2:27 pm the Department of Human Services reported dependent adult neglect where a family member’s care was not being paid for at a local care facility. At 4:50 pm a complainant reported harassment at the municipal pool. At 6:59 pm an officer arrested Brandon Mitchell at on an outstanding warrant for fraudulent practices – third degree*. At 8:16 pm a complainant reported a theft at a residence in the 600 block of N. Olive St. ***An officer has cited Jessica Weigel of Jefferson for providing alcohol to person underage by employee pursuant to an incident on July 17 at Kum and Go.
Monday, July 20: At 9:41 am an officer investigated a two vehicle collision in the Wild Rose Casino parking lot. Carrie Thompson attempted to back her 2005 Dodge Caravan from a parking stall but struck a parked 2009 Cadillac CTS owned by Alexander McConnell. The officer estimated $500 in damage to Thompson’s vehicle and $750 in damage to McConnell’s vehicle. At 11:43 am staff at Kum and Go reported the sale of an alcoholic beverage to an underage person by an employee. The officer cited April Doggett, age 20, for possession of an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21. Additional charges are pending.
Sunday, July 19: At 4:44 pm officers responded to a five vehicle chain reaction accident on Highway 30 near Mulberry St. Amanda Dennis of Grand Junction was westbound on Highway 30. Dennis had stopped at Mulberry in her 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer and was waiting to turn south on to Mulberry. Three vehicles had stopped behind the Dennis vehicle to wait for her to navigate the turn after oncoming traffic passed. Taylor Petersen of Audubon approached from the east and did not see the vehicles stopped in the roadway. Petersen’s 2014 GM Denali struck the rear corner of a 2003 Envoy operated by Heather Wittrock of Carroll. The Petersen vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the north ditch. The Wittrock vehicle was pushed forward and sideswiped the vehicle stopped in front of it, a 2011 Malibu operated by Randall Lansman of Audubon, and then struck the rear end of the vehicle ahead of Lansman, a 2010 Traverse operated by Jennifer McDowell of Defiance. No injuries were reported. All vehicles suffered damages. Taylor Petersen was issued a citation for failure to stop in clear assured distance ahead.
Saturday, July 18: At 1:52 am an officer checked on a small group of people near Russell Park. The officer learned that they were being dropped back off at their vehicles, which were parked. The officer’s investigation led to Ethan Riley Woodruff, 18, and Christopher Maurell Mannion, 17, both of Jefferson, being placed in custody for possession of alcohol by persons under legal age*.
Friday, July 17: At 8:17 am a complainant reported a theft from a motor vehicle from a residence in the 100 block of S. Maple St.
Thursday, July 16: At 7:54 pm the Perry police department requested assistance form a JPD in locating a subject believed to be in Jefferson. Throughout the day, 911 dispatchers and Jefferson police officers received numerous 911 calls from a Jefferson resident. The dispatchers and officers worked to end the harassing calls, but the subject continued to call. At 9:33 pm a JPD officer and two Greene County sheriff’s deputies went to the residence in the 400 block of E. McKinley St to speak to the male subject. The male subject rushed the JPD officer and a short struggle ensued. As a result of the incident, Richard Charles Burkhardt was arrested and charged with assault on persons in certain occupations and criminal mischief-second degree, both Class D felonies, and disorderly conduct and harassment-third degree, both simple misdemeanors*.
Wednesday, July 15: At 1:12 am an officer discovered a burglary to a vehicle stored in the city’s impound lot. A car stereo had been removed from the vehicle.
Tuesday, July 14: At 4:59 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at E. Russell and S. Chestnut St. Daniel Emmert was southbound on Chestnut. Michael Coil was westbound on Russell St. Both vehicles stopped at their posted stop signs. Emmert turned eastbound on Russell St and the two vehicles collided within the intersection. Emmert’s 2009 Honda Civic sustained $1,000 in damage and Coil’s 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck sustained $100 in damage. At 9:15 pm Kum and Go employees reported a male in the parking lot consuming alcohol next to a vehicle. The officer cited Dustin Axle Brobst, 24, of Perry for consumption of alcohol in a public place*. The officer released Brobst and advised him to leave the area. Shortly after Brobst and the officer left, Kum and Go employees reported Brobst had returned and was arguing with employees regarding who had called him in. Officers were tied up with another call at the time. A Greene County sheriff’s deputy was in the area and responded to the store. Brobst was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. The JPD officer additionally charged Brobst with disorderly conduct and trespass*, both simple misdemeanors.
At 9:41 pm a complainant reported she and a male were assaulted by a male and female in the parking lot at Casey’s (N. Elm). The officer is investigating the allegation. At 10:12 pm employees at Casey’s (N. Elm) requested an officer to pick up a plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine that had been dropped in the store. The officer took the item into his possession and will apply for an order to have it destroyed.
Monday, July 13: At 12:36 pm an officer investigated a motor vehicle collision at W. Washington and N. Vine St. Mary Norgart was eastbound on Washington. Dylan Burgart was southbound on Vine. Burgart stopped as posted and then proceeded, but the two vehicles collided in the intersection. Burgart was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to his 2003 Ford Focus was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Norgart’s 2003 Ford Windstar minivan was estimated at $1,000. At 1:02 pm officers investigated a two vehicle collision at N. Elm and W. Washington St. John Berg was southbound in the inside lane of Elm. He slowed to turn left onto Washington but his vehicle was struck in the rear by Grant Jacobs. Jacobs was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance ahead. Damage to his 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Berg’s 2003 GMC Yukon was estimated at $1,000.
Sunday, July 12: At 12:50 pm a complainant reported trespass and tampering with a gas meter at a residence in the 300 block of E. Harrison St. At 4:05 a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St. The residence had been entered and a tool box was missing.
Saturday, July 11: At 4:12 pm a HyVee manager requested an officer for a possible counterfeit bill. The complaint remains under investigation. At 9:40 pm a complainant reported his vehicle had been struck while parked in the parking lot at HyVee. The officer estimated $1,000 in damage had been done in the right rear on a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck. At 11:20 pm an officer was advised of a fight taking place at a residence in the 200 block of N. Oak St. The officer determined there had been an altercation due to a teenage female not arriving home on time. A fight took place and a window had been broken out of a vehicle. The officer cited Joseph Romeo, 45, of Jefferson, with disorderly conduct*. Cory Maine, 16, of Des Moines was also cited for disorderly conduct*. Maine was referred to Juvenile Court Services. At 11:24 pm a complainant reported a possible burglary to a shed in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St.

Thursday, July 9: At 8:32 an officer investigated a hit and run accident that occurred in the 100 block of East McKinley St. Susan Forkner of Jefferson was eastbound on McKinley St. Susan Forkner of Jefferson was eastbound in the 100 Block of East McKinley Street. A vehicle came out of the north alley in the 100 block and struck Forkner’s 2013 Chevrolet Impala in the right rear, causing it to spin 360 degrees in the roadway. The other vehicle fled from the scene. Forkner’s vehicle suffered heavy rear end damage. Witnesses to the accident described the fleeing vehicle as a late model Jeep Grand Cherokee, possibly dark green in color. The officer is still investigating at this time. Forkner did seek medical attention by private vehicle for possible injuries. Anyone with information concerning the vehicle that left the scene is asked to call the Jefferson police department at 515-386-2136. At 8 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle parked in the 300 block of W. State St.
Wednesday, July 8: At 1:03 am an officer arrested Lance Michael Ross of Grand Junction for outstanding Greene County arrest warrants. At 7:41 pm a complainant reported the theft of a bike at from a residence in the 300 block of E. Head St. *** As previously reported, a JPD officer assisted a DHS child protective worker with a home visit on June 26 at a residence in the 300 block of S. Wilson. As a result of the officer’s finished investigation, arrest warrants have been issued. Arrest warrants were issued for Christian Remberto Paniagua of Jefferson for unlawful possession of prescription drug and possession of marijuana, both serious misdemeanors, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor*. Juvenile arrest warrants were issued for Whitney Jean Campbell-Perez of Jefferson for unlawful possession of prescription drug, possession of marijuana– first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia*. ***The officer’s investigation into a theft at Hy-Vee on June 29 is complete and has resulted in arrest warrants being issued for Lance Michael Ross of Grand Junction for theft-fifth degree and possession of alcohol under age, both simple misdemeanors*.
Tuesday, July 7: At 1:53 am an officer was requested at Wild Rose Jefferson for a trespasser. At 7:39 pm a complainant reported a trespass at a residence in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive.
Monday, July 6: At 9:37 am officers investigated a two vehicle accident at N. Elm and W. Adams St. Richard Sandage of Jefferson was eastbound on Adams. Nancy Kaufman of Grand Junction was northbound in the inside lane of Elm. Sandage stopped as posted but proceeded into the intersection into the path of Kaufman’s vehicle. Kaufman struck the passenger side of Sandage’s vehicle. Sandage was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to his 2006 Dodge Dakota was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Kaufman’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000. At 12:34 pm staff at Hy-Vee reported receiving a counterfeit $50 at the store. An investigation was initiated. At 2:58 pm the Guthrie County sheriff’s office requested assistance from the Jefferson police department in locating a stolen vehicle from Yale. The vehicle had been stolen on July 2. Their investigation led them to believe the vehicle may have been driven to Jefferson. At 5:41 pm a complainant reported receiving a text message from a person in violation of a protective order. The officer is investigating. At 7:34 pm an officer located the motor vehicle reported stolen from Guthrie County in the 300 block of S. Grimmell Road. The officer contacted Guthrie County and is currently assisting them in the matter.
Sunday, July 5: At 12:38 am officers were advised of a possible domestic situation occurring at a residence in the 600 block of W. Washington St. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Angela Kay Bonnette for disorderly conduct.* At 3:16 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 600 block of W. Washington St for an assault. The officer’s conducted an investigation and Angela Kay Bonnette was arrested for domestic abuse assault causing injury (serious misdemeanor)*.
Saturday, July 4: At 5:11 pm a complainant reported a trespass that had occurred at a residence in the 700 block of N. Wilson. At 5:54 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to his vehicle in the 300 block of S. Maple St. At 8:59 pm a complainant reported a possible harassment situation occurring at a residence in the 300 block of N. Maple St. At 10:19 pm an officer shut down the intersection and provided traffic control at Lincoln Way and Grimmell for Greene County EMS.
Friday, July 3: At 6:19 pm a complainant reported a female in a vehicle driving through the area of the 100 block of E. Clark St honking the horn and revving the engine. The vehicle had gone through the area multiple times in this manner. The officer’s investigation led to Caitlyn Marsha Day of Jefferson being charged with disorderly conduct.* At 7 pm a complainant spoke with an officer about harassing text messages she had received. At 8:46 pm a complainant advised of an assault that reportedly had occurred at a residence in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. At 9 pm a complainant reported a subject on a motorcycle on Highway 30 westbound towards Jefferson that was possibly intoxicated. The officer located the vehicle and followed it a short distance to a residence in the 300 block of W. Washington St. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Wayne C. Briggs of Cedar Rapids, NE, for operating while intoxicated-second offence (aggravated misdemeanor)*.
Thursday, July 2: At 12:34 pm an officer was requested at Bomgaars to take a report of missing keys. At 12:54 pm an officer investigated a gas drive off at Casey’s (N. Elm).
Wednesday, July 1: At 8:15 pm a complainant reported the theft of a vehicle key from the auction building at 309 W. McKinley St.
